Signs Across The World

July 9, 2007

There are millions and millions of road signs in the world. We don’t often see these signs. Do we really need them?

Deaf Soccer

Deaf Crossing! Santa Fe New Mexico sign. Its important to note whether pedestrians are hearing or deaf so you can honk at them.

I wonder if they take it down after the kid grows up.

They are dangerous don’t you know.

Slow School For The Deaf???? SLOW?? Hmmmm

This sign lies. It is not, nor has it ever been, a deaf child.

Weird sign I drove past somewhere in Canterbury. Needless to say after taking the pic I completely forgot about the cat and sped off. My bad.

Watch out for Deaf people across the street!

On Mirabeau Avenue near a breach in the London Avenue Canal. Thirteen+ months after Katrina.

I’ve definitely never seen this kind of sign before.

Local deaf society building is 2 doors up from this sign. Although the way some cars hare up Wood Street at night I doubt they see the sign let alone heed it.

Actually, according to traffic sign in Iceland, the top sign is ‘Other danger’, the middle sign is ‘Caution – blind people’ and the bottom one is ‘Caution – deaf people’.

Deaf Dog and his master own the world.

Woof! Woof! Woof!

Deaf Across

Poster in Casbah’s window, Cambridge Street, Sheffield.

Deaf School sign. Near Cooper Union.

This is from a trip to Van many years ago. It still makes me laugh. I mean, if your cats are deaf, why would you let them out into traffic?

Truthfully, I’m still not certain what this sign is supposed to indicate or why it’s there.

A sign spotted in Sennen Cove, Cornwall.

Sign seen outside a house in the middle of the country

So, do they take turns or do they all jump out at once?

    We DEFINITELY don’t need them!

I’ve seen sign #5 which is similar to the one in Rhode Island nearby RISD.

Thanks for sharing these odd signs, though. 😉

I don’t see many signs like that in Colorado, but I see the only sign in a poor area in a very small town. The sign says, ” deaf child “, in that area, it will only allow you drive at about 10 mph because of the narrow, dirt road. I know that the deaf person is in his late 30’s. So, we don’t really need the signs.

    Oh my goodness!!!!

Two ridiculous signs out of many stupid signs…

#17: “Deaf School” Why post a sign in fingerspelling??? I would think the Deaf people already know the Deaf School is there! Hearing people can’t read the dam* sign!!!

#18: “Deaf White Cats” Is that a RACIST sign? What about Black cats? What about Tabby cats?

I think most of the signs were put up there for good intentions, I know that there are signs still in my town and a town over and the people they put the signs up for originally are now adults and also they are now grand parents LOL,,
As I said the signs were put up for a reason at that time, regardless if U say you DO NOT REALLY NEED THEM,, some one erected those signs cos they thought SOME ONE REALLY NEEDED the sign..
But the signs were amusing to look at just the same, the last one would have confused the hell out of any motorist LOL

Yeah right. Hearing people think that we don’t pay attention to the incoming cars. We don’t need those signs. How dumb.

I think the signs are great! The ones about the animals are a little much though. I have deaf parents and if I had kids that were deaf, I would appreciate the signs indicating the deaf child area only because you have assholes who like to speed and not think a thing about it. Perhaps the signs can give some kind of “notice” to the speeding driver that if he indeed hits a deaf child, he’s gonna be in lots of trouble. 1. For not obeying the sign posted and 2. for hitting someone.

    Think about it!

to remind you all as well should not be insulted the deaf people as well. those sign should help the hearing people to slow down and pay attentions to the deaf people. the whole world knows that the deaf people always looked out the cars and others, too. what do you care???? that really hurts us so much. thanks alot!! should help each other along with deaf people.
