Sadly the guy is telling the truth, I have seen it all my adult life, not saying I am perfect, but I am also an observer looking in, I go to DVTV/ and other vlog sites I watch people get bashed over and over again, I see them pile abuse on others if others do not agree with the other people say, its horrible how the deaf tend to tear each other apart. The back stabbing, the gossip, the rumours .. yes sadly the guy is seeing how it is … maybe not just in America ,I am sure it is world wide, but lets focus on America for a moment, there will always be a big flock of SHEEP, and a very few strong leaders to lead.. no one is going to be happy, there will always be one or two who will find fault and then the shit will hit the fan all over again, its a vicious cycle.. sad isn’t it??? Hope this guy has opened a few eyes,, no I do not want him to STOP, I think we all should “listen” to what he had to say.
Its not too late for us to make some changes????

Unfortunately, what he said is true. All the silly bashing, character defaming, etc… all for what cause? Does not matter what differences of opinions are, we just need to acknowledge and respect each other. But then I have been singing the same old tune for the last few years. I guess it has to do with the need to be in control and all the ego *ME, ME, ME* that drives the divisions. I support both sides (no I don’t always agree with both sides, but I listen to them and both have valid points… as long as they don’t let personal vendattas in the way.)

    Folks and GreatFulDeaf,
I agree whole hearty. I’m an american in mid age, grew up in public schools and attended Deaf school late in high school (because back in ’80s public schools would not work with me with interpretting and etc.).
Ineed, the Deaf here in America always bicker on nothing – they waste time talking on same topic or numerous of senseless topics without doing anything! Sadly it’s almost as if it’s “Hate Group.”
I’m NAD menbership/delegates and State membership plus many more. I know I’m using the “I’s” but, you’re right I’ve seen the big differences between BGAD, RID, State Commissions on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, NAD, State Associations and many more.
This past winter, I came onto Deaf Hood’s website – which blew my mind!!!!!!!!!!
I’m back at college, hoping in the future I’ll find a job to work with the Deaf. However, Deaf Hood seems promising!
Deaf Americans needs to stop complianing, attacking each other, instead to get things done in legally!
Once we get things done the legal way, there shall be documents to start from there and so on. Just like the folks of Deaf Hood mentioned.
Don’t get me wrong, there are many folks that agrees with you and meanwhile, we’re trying to educate others.
It’s great you brought this issue up.
I sure look forward to the time our country finally gets it and work together in UNITY among other successful organizations and other countries.

By the way, here’s Deaf Hood’s website in case anyone’s wondering:

    Cheers Folks!

You say we need USA???? I think NOT! I have many friends in Europe and they are becoming more stronger than USA – USA now over 200 years and not yet a Senator. EU is 50 years old and already two Deaf MEP (Senators) first one was Italian in the 1990s and now Adam Kosa from Hungary is current sitting MEP. Europe is working together on VRS on TRS on Sign Languages and many others but my fellow Americans say that the Europeans are all Socialists and not interested. Maybe you have hit the spot but the fundamental message is CAPITALISM – no where in the world is there such a capitalistic greed than in my own country I am sad to say that leads to individualism rather than community ideals. Hearing people are laughing at us because they maintain their power position because we deaf people have not yet become adults – we remain kids until we elevate our deaf leaders and protect them and if they do wrong we admonish them but on an adult to adult basis like positive criticism or challenging without denegerating into insults or personal disclosures!
Again thanks for removing the rock to bring light to the darkness where bugs and ungodly creatures love to live in!

The vlogger means well but he gives too much impossibly-held power to a few individuals. It is not possible for that to occur; therefore, I think the deaf powers that be are not doing it right in the first place. Do it right and the few individuals who oppose, etc will fade into the sunset in a plume of smoke, lol.

Bravo! It’s true. That’s why it happened 30 years ago and never change today.

My hats off to you friend. Very good and impressive. Something we don’t often hear. It hurts to see what is happening in our deaf communites even in churches in many places. Someone needs to educate the main stream kids and their parents what we really need — not two different groups and cultures. We need TOGETHER to keep going and making things happen. Thanks for a good video.

I agreed with this Canadian guy who expressed his concerns after some deaf Americans who bashed, attacked, insulted, and some that did not help making the deaf communities especially deaf organizations to become stronger. He said that they do indeed need the deaf American society to become better as a whole in order to make things better for others in other countries… how true so!

Though those sorry ones do NOT represent many good deaf Americans yet those ones actually “misrepresented” as if the deaf people outside USA would assume many deaf Americans are like those sorry ones, unfortunately.
One classic sample – just go to DVTV where you could find so many sorry people who bashed, attacked, insulted, “me-me” too much often (and still do) that turned me off and stopped watching DVTV… to be honest I was shocked how bad it went on there at the beginning so I’m sure that I wasn’t alone here.

Yup, there are hearing people from anywhere are just like that as a matter of fact. My wife used to work at a plant where there were many blue-collar hearing co-workers who bitched too often that she told me.

Ah, those times nowadays are not like in the past anymore… they do not practice what God expects them to therefore evil expands into the society over the time but more nowadays, unfortunately… same for anyone, anywhere.

My hat goes off to that Canadian guy for speaking out aloud, thanks!

    April 20, 2010 at 11:10 pm

Many years ago when we had no deaf senior citizen clubs many deaf clubs were well organized. Many younger people coming to deaf clubs just for curiosity learned a lot from older people about education, jobs, etc. Nowadays older people and younger people hate and insult each other in some ways. Older people wanted their own senior citizen clubs to keep younger people away. Younger people feel like they are left out. How sad!!! Since I have my own children I sure know how younger people feel. We should be more patient and encourage younger people with a smile showing we do care. I always believe in youth challenge for younger people even though I am 70 years old.

Canadian Guy hit the sharpest big EGO in the DEAF communities. My hat’s off to him a big time!

  19. April 22, 2010 at 10:45 pm

Hate to say this.. Even I am in leadership in some group/ communities, Theres a lot of individuals want to be self-centered and in controlling at his/her’s whim.. that is damaging to our cultures and communities.. I strongly believe that one of these days everything will gone… I am greatly appreciated that Canadian guy has spoken out, Hopefully American deaf communities even to an individuals to be “rude awakening” sooner than Later.. Again I am still fighting to preserves what is left of us!! Wake up American!! Lets united together!!
