Deaf woman, Sandra Gorrill’s Own Embroidery Business

September 10, 2009

By Jimactor

Went to visit Deaf woman, Sandra Gorill, to see her own embroidery business. Was fascinated with her business and how it works. She showed me how to use the sewing machine and computer to transfer the images to the material on the sewing machine. She can make anything you want her to do. She will tell you the truth and say she can’t do it but almost every time someone asked her to do. she will complete the tasks. It can be anything from embroidery on shirts, bag, towels, etc and she can even do the quilt!  Very interesting! She’s been in this business for 14 years.

    Hi Sandra,

Congrats on such a great business and your drive to do this. This is Karen Nelson’s sister. Beatrice sent this to me and was glad to read about you. Please let me know if I can order that quilt with the signal language alphabet on it. I’d like to surprise Karen for her b’day. She has a twin bed. How much would that cost. Thanks in advance for your information.

I’ve known Sandra my whole life. (She’s my mother.) She is a very industrious woman with a can-do attitude. If you ask her to make something for you and she says she can, you will and will also get a good quality product. I’m very proud of her accomplishments. Being deaf has nothing to do with her talents. They are both gifts……
