FB Editor Left China a Few Hours Before Massive Earthquake Struck

May 12, 2008

By Bug

Our Editor Jimactor and his wife (Fookem & JFLMad’s parents) were with 66 Deaf people in China for three weeks. They left a few hours before the huge earthquake struck. Nearly 10,000 people are dead and thousands more injured after a massive earthquake rocked southwest China on Monday afternoon. Fookem’s parents did not know there was an earthquake until they landed in Chicago today.

At about 3:30 a.m. I was alerted when the report came in and I sent the urgent message to Fookem this morning. He was on the way to the airport to pick up his parents. When his parents arrived from China and he informed them about the earthquake. They were shocked. Jimactor said he was told that earthquake hit many years ago.

After Fookem got my urgent message, he said ” I know that my parents are somewhere in the sky as they are coming home soon. But feel bad about people in China who have to deal with this horrible situation”.

Last Friday Fookem’s mother was sick with bad cold but other 34 Deaf people were sick with bad diarrhea and vomit. Jimactor said he enjoyed his experience with the Deaf group in China including Hong Kong. They visited many different places including Deaf school. He will share with you soon.

We the FB editors extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who have been killed or injured in the earthquake.

Their parents are so lucky that they left before it happened. My heart goes to people in China that they have to go through with pains and heart-breaking for their lost ones.
