Marlee Matlin received worldwide critical acclaim for her film debut in “Children of a Lesser God,” for which she received the Academy Award® for Best Actress. At 21 she became the youngest recipient of the Best Actress Oscar® and only one of four actresses to receive the honor for her film debut. In addition to the Oscar, Marlee received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama. She has since appeared on a number of hit television programs, including “The West Wing,” “The L-Word,” “Nip/Tuck” and “Desperate Housewives.” In Spring 2008, she will star opposite Jeff Daniels in the telefilm “Sweet Nothing in My Ear.” Marlee teams up with newcomer Fabian Sanchez, who appears for the first time on season 6 of Dancing with the Stars. Fabian is the 2006 World Mambo Champion, a four-time Fred Astaire National Champion and the United States Rising Star, and the 1999 American Rhythm Champion.

    Thank you for sharing this picture. I am looking forward to watch dancing with the star on tv since last year. Surprised she is in it. She has good challenge and show deaf can do it.

    She is going to have her work cut out for her,, I am going to only be able to watch whatever is avialble on You Tube or the offical site, I will be watching her, and I do HOPE she is JUDGED fairly, and not kept in for a long time just because she is a token deafie in the contest..

    basically…. my question is, WHY MARLEE??? why not shoshannah stern, Christy Smith, or other deaf actress let them get thier recongition! i think its a shame… marlee is just brushing arms for attention. There are other deafies around here there should be fairness but all the same, good luck…

    Marlee does not chicken out or find any good excuse due to her deafness for the music.
    I am proud of her and I hope she will make it for several shows to come. Good Luck Marlee!!!
