Hearing Aids Can Be Sexy

June 23, 2007

Stress is sexy. Burn out, or even non-executive stress is sexy. But you try making deafness sexy. OK, try to make it interesting.

Yup, it’s a PR nightmare. For every problem there is a solution.

If there is no solution it’s not a problem it’s a fact of life and you just have to get on with it.

I do have a cunning plan though. Sorry it was not even mine, that Renee Wilkinson at Cumbria Deaf Association has a lot to answer for.

You have a hearing aid; you may not like wearing it. It doesn’t look cool.

Paint it blue, stick a Doctor Spock ear on it and talk very loudly to yourself; a lot.

Who would know you are not a Blue Tooth user?

Well it would probably help if you stopped dead in the street and bumped into things at the same time, but there is no need to take it too far. You might hurt yourself.

You could hurt yourself a whole lot more if you don’t hear that car coming.

If you are deaf and not using your aid, get help, if you think you may be losing some hearing get help.

You may have perfect hearing, you can make yourself deaf aware.

Look people in the face when you speak to them, speak clearly.

Learn to sign, learn to lip read, think about body language.

You think your Granny doesn’t understand you.

She may not be able to hear you, especially if you grunt.

The long term effects of mobile phones, loud music on i-pods and mis-dialed faxes in headphones on young ears are not yet known.

It’s a cool club; you could be joining it sooner than you think.

If you need to speak to someone about this try William Turner, Deaf Awareness co-ordinator, 01946 852888.

If you make a hearing aid sexy you will make a fortune. Sorry I don’t have the brand manager of Blue Tooth’s number on me.

Instead of people “looking down” at you because you needed hearing aids, they could look down at you for being “pretentious”! 🙂

I forget sometimes – that’s a problem that Deaf people do not have – hearing half of a conversation by someone talking to the air.

But if that could somehow make someone feel less self-conscious about a hearing aid….

if the hearing aids cause much problem as ring when sweating like sexy, which make the music ugly.

if I were all those deaf, I would throw away hearing aids. It’s a bigger improve because you would relay on visual instead of hear. “You could hurt a lot more if you could not hear the car coming” my hearing friend nearly got hurt by car, I saved him by spot the car before he did.

just buy Ipod and listen to music at full volume while read lip with hearing, it make no different compare to having hearing aid and read lip at the same time.
