Worked there fer 5 years and got married then moved to Oah’u, Hawai’i as Teacher Aide fer deaf school. 5 months which didn’t bring happiness in Hawai’i and moved to Seattle, WA. Feelin’ the itch to go back in the kitchen. Found a job as prep and lunch cook. Once again, moved up to be a lunch chef fer one and half year. Got a better job offer at 4-star restaurant called Flying Fish in downtown Seattle as prepmeister. From there, mo have learned a lot about how to incorporated a new dish and recipes fer a menu daily! After a year there, mo long-tyme deaf friend, Rob Esposito, offer me a chef position to open up an Italian Ristorante called Abbondanza Pizzeria in 2000. Dat’s where mo started learn how to operate a restaurant business and executive chef. After 2 years there, feel the needs to learn more by move to other restaurants. Paragon’s; That’s A Some Italian; Mona’s Bistro and Lounge; Opened up other Pizzeria called Deano’s in wrong location which shut down within 2 months. Did returned to Abbondanza twice to help bring the authenic Napoletana food. Mo ended up in a fateful car accident which brings mo in bedridden fer 6 months and moved to Fremont, CA. After a year of recovery, started mo own caterin’ biz called 4-Leaf Clover Catering. Been runnin’ by meself fer 5 years catered all over Amerika. Decided to move to Austin with mo wyns (kids) and their mom. Tried to find a restaurant job in Austin but kept shut me out. Bumped into Paul Rutowski and we started a catering called Arouse Your Palate Catering to caters all around Austin and internet live streamin’ cooking show with iDeaf News. So, the contest is about how hot a chef looks or how hot the food is? I’d hope that the hottest chef also makes the best food!! Congrats to Kurt on winning Austin, good luck for the National title.

I hope he gets on one of the Top Chef reality shows, I love watching it, we’ll know how well he cooks or better yet, I should stop by Viuda Bistro one day and taste the food and decide. I’m sure he’s a good cook..haven’t heard otherwise.

Yes Candy, you should. I have been told by Kurt’s father about Vuida Bistro. I finally try it last Oct, it was amazing! Unfortunately, I didn’t get chance to meet Kurt but Heidi.

Glad someone who is Deaf is in the contest. PAH! It is about time but how can we vote without knowing how well he cooks…taste his foods? It applies to hearing chefs in the contest as well. When I was asked to show up for jury duty and when attorneys asked me questions…I told them how can they asked me questions without letting me review evidences or hearing testimonies first. They immediately selected me as a juror for one week with interpreters. I can’t vote without testing, seeing/hearing witnesses and etc. I can’t vote because the person is well known, belongs to clannish, or popular. It is not me. I want to see it first, taste it, and questios before I can decide whether to vote or not. Don’t take this personal please.

    Penny…

It’s not about how well he cooks. It’s about how hot does he look compared to who he’s competing with. Kurt made a vlog, he does not want people to vote for him because he is deaf, he wants you to vote for him only if you think he’s HOT.

Hi Hi Candy, Thanks! I thought hottest mean wow…nothing to do with physical appearance. I checked webster dictionary (I know this word “hot” is a first grade) Hot has different meanings. My interpretation for hottest chef means currently popular, very good, and favorable. I am not into facebook world…poor me for being isolated but yet I am happy, smile. Did they said vote for physical appearance? I am confused.

Well, the word “hot” has many meanings, you’re right, Penny. I believe that when one says “whoa, you’re hot”, it means, you’re cute, good looking, sexy, etc. Physical appearance, yup. I suggest you look for Kurt’s vlog, he explains it too. Check it out:
