Scary DeafRead Bone Soup
Posted by fookembug on October 31, 2008
By Bug
On Fookem’s way home from the market, he took a short cut through the DeafRead cemetery. There, sticking up out of the ground, he saw a big deaf bone. He picked it up and looked it over carefully.
Fookem signed to himself, “ This will make a very good soup bone, I think I will take it home. It’s perfect weather for hot soup. My father Jimactor and brother JFLMad will enjoy the soup.”
When he got home, the first thing he did was start the soup. Into the big soup pot went water, carrots, green beans, corn, barley, onions, potatoes, a snitch of beef, some salt and pepper, and the bone. He brought it all to a boil, then brought it down to a simmer.
“Yum!” he signed, sniffing it and tasting it. “ I can hardly wait till supper. I must get my father and brother to come and eat with me.”
Fookem’s blackberry pager shook wildly. He picked it up and read. The message said, “ May I have back my bone, please?”
He paid not attention. Soon he saw his shaky pager again. Same message came in. He chose to ignore it. He flashed his kitchen light to get his father and brother’s attention. They came in and sat down. Soup smelled so good.
JFLMad said, “ HOLD!!! Where is Bug? We should email and ask him to join us for dinner! We love him like a buggy brother!”
Jimactor said, “ Yes! I agree! Let’s call him!”.
Fookem said, “ nahh! Not my problem! He is too busy with his cold hearing-mute girlfriend. Did you see his story at our website? Go and check it at http://fookembug.wordpress.com/2008/10/10/bug-got-a-new-cold-hearingmute-girlfriend/ Leave him alone. He is a fool for being with a cold-hearted girlfriend“
They laughed and agreed to eat without Bug. They were so happy eating their first deaf bone soup.
Fookem’s pager shook, and again he didn’t take any notice. In a little while, the annoying-loud shaken pager did not work enough to get his attention. There was a strange ghosty message writing on the wall as if it spoke up once more. It was beginning to sound angry… “ GIVE ME BACK MY BONE!”.
Everyone kept ignoring it.
“Some deaf people are too impatient,” he muttered.
The videophone (vp) flasher turned on to blind everyone. Fookem ran and grabbed his useless vp remote under the web. A unhappy spider bite his finger because he destroyed the web. Fookem signed, “OUCH!” then he sucked his finger to make himself feel better. He looked at a spider and signed, “ Go away, you little fool!” Then he blew it off the wooden table.
He answered the vp. The caller was Bug! Fookem asked, “ What do you want? We are eating…”
Bug said, “ know what? I saw the rumors from DeafRead people saying that someone took the bone of Alexander Graham Bell out of DeafRead cemetery ! Let’s make the report …… they depend on us because we Hear all, See all, Know all, and Share all. Do you know anything about the bone?????”
Fookem’s eyes opened wide like a night owl.
Then his pager got on fire. It became a written language in the smoke, “ I WANT MY BONE BACK!”. The message was very angry and it was so loud that the whole house shook.
Jimactor and JFLMad ran out of house.
Fookem screamed and used his foolish facial expression in ASL, “ FINNNISSSSHHHH” and hung up on Bug. He ran to the Deaf kitchen and reached into the pot, grabbed the bone, and threw it out the window. In a strong deaf voice just as loud, he signly shouted,
“TAKE IT!”
Bug rang and rang…fookem ran to vp snd pick up the phone. Bug wanted to sign ” STOP! DROP! ROLL!” then he hunng up.

Beware! Deaf Haunted House is in Westminster, Colorado! Ken Davis of Deafnewspaper filmed it at John Martinez’s scary home. See the films (see below). Is it real? You decide!
John graduated from Colorado School for the Deaf in 1979. His two Deaf brothers went to school with him too. His 14 year old nephew Jake Pfau-Martinez went there last year but he is attending Westlake Middle school. He likes his school. Jake’s parents are Deaf too. John’s 3 years old granddaughter is hearing but she knows ASL and learned first ASL when she was one and half year old. Her name is Autumn Spencer.
His first Halloween costume was Superman. His favorite holidays are Halloween and Christmas. He was asked if he believes in the ghost? He said ” I am not sure if I believe in ghost, alien and ufo but I like to talk about this.” When he was a little boy. He used to be Halloween party at the Deaf School and played bitting the apples out of water bucket, enjoyed the costume prize, and went through the haunted house. John loved the Halloween spirit. He always watched Charlie Brown Hallown Special show.
John enjoys collecting lemax spooky haunted houses and village. In the film, John plays as Dr. Alienly Master. Jake plays as Jake the Legend Autumn plays as a little brave patient becoming a witch and chicken. They are making the film for fun.
John and his family wish the readers of FookemBug a Happy Halloween.

Deaf Cartoon Artist in “Flintstone”, is in the hospital
Posted by fookembug on October 22, 2008

Gino Giudice had a massive heart attack on October 10th. He was in a coma. He was in intensive care unit since then. The report said Gino just woke up and is doing well. He has many friends visiting him at the hospital. He turned 76 on October 13th. His doctor told him to rest plenty of time. Gino is supposed to work as a Halloween committee but he is required to rest. He is still at the hospital.
Gino is perhaps equally well-known, and certainly equally applauded for his efforts in creativing and making his homemade costumes at his Hollywood home. He was a background artist at Animation Department of Hanna- Barbera in Hollywood. He was perhaps most respected for his role in the art of “Flintstone”, ” The Pebbles and Bamm” and other artworks in this field.

Poll: World Series
Posted by fookembug on October 22, 2008

(The photo from US presswire)
Thirty teams have been whittled down to two, and seven more games—or less—will leave one standing.
The Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays will open the World Series at Tropicana Field on Wednesday, with each franchise looking to change its fate in one way or another.
The Phillies have been the historic doormat of the National League for over a century, winning the World Series only once (1980) in 125 years of existence and becoming the first franchise to top 10,000 losses last season.
But with a team full of home-grown superstars making the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, Philadelphia can erase some bad memories for both the franchise and the city, which hasn’t celebrated a championship since the 76ers won the NBA title in 1983.
The Rays are in their 11th year of existence but are in the midst of their first winning campaign, somehow navigating the waters of the treacherous American League East all season and outlasting the Boston Red Sox in the AL Championship Series to reach this point.
Also built largely of players from its own system, Tampa Bay has the second-lowest payroll in the game and a World Series win would not only put it on the map as perennial contenders, but would strike a blow for the little guy in a sport that has long been dominated by the big-market teams.
Scoreboard:
Hitting: The Phillies have enough depth to score without relying on power from Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Pat Burrell. Timing could be an issue early because of weeklong layoff. Edge: Phillies
Pitching: The Phillies have an efficient bullpen with a lights-out closer in Brad Lidge. No. 1 starter Cole Hamels is the key, but Jamie Moyer must rebound. But I’d match the Rays’ rotation against anyone. Price might be right as closer. Edge: Rays
Defense: The Phillies pitch to contact, putting pressure on a solid infield. Pitchers trust catcher and unsung hero Carlos Ruiz. The Rays got here on defense, but it became an issue in the ALCS. Edge: Phillies
Manager: Heavy-hearted Charlie Manuel came through on early promise of Phillies advancing farther than in ’07. He keeps it simple and feels the team pulse in every situation. Preparation is an asset for the Rays’ Joe Maddon, who exudes control and decisiveness. Edge: Rays
Intangibles: The Phillies will try to erase the sour memories of 1993 with their balanced and poised team. An extra bat as a DH in the AL park will help. The Team of Destiny has the Trop, the cowbells, and the desire to prove to anyone that the Rays are here to stay. Edge: Rays
With home-field advantage, thanks in part to All-Star Game winner Scott Kazmir, the Rays will be hard to stop. The story of last-to-first playing in the tough A.L. East is too good to come to an end. Rays in 6 games.
